Film Prop Puts Snoop Dogg On The Hot Seat

Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, may face charges after authorities discovered a 21-inch collapsible baton in his bags upon boarding a New York bound flight.

Snoop had the baton in his laptop case as he went through a security checkpoint at John Wayne International Airport, sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.

The rapper told sheriffs deputies that the baton was a prop for a movie he was filming in New York.

District attorney spokeswoman Susan Kang Schroeder said the prosecutors had not yet decided whether to charge Snoop Dogg and that their office only received the sheriffs report. The rapper was not arrested.

A collapsible baton is classified as a dangerous weapon. Snoops baton collapsed to eight inches.

This wasnt the first time the rapper had a problem at an airport.

In May, Snoop Dogg and five other men were arrested at Heathrow Airport in London on charges of violent disorder and starting a brawl after some members of the rappers party were denied entry to the first class lounge of British Airways.

Snoop, however, accepted responsibility for using threatening words or behavior.

It has been reported that after the incident, British Airways has banned Snoop Dogg from future travel on the airline.

Moreover, Snoop Dogg was convicted in 1990 of cocaine possession and was charged with gun possession after a 1993 traffic stop.

He faced possible three years in prison, which was reduced to three years probation after the rapper pleaded guilty and promised to make anti-violence public service announcements.

In 1996, he was acquitted of murder following the death of an alleged street gang member killed by gunfire from the vehicle Snoop Dogg was traveling in.

On the lighter side, Snoop Dogg recently had a successful premiere of Snoop Doggs Hood of Horror as part of Screamfest 2006. The celebrity red carpet arrivals and screening were held at Grauman's Mann Chinese 6 Theater in Hollywood.

The Xenon Pictures release, produced by BloodWorks, Social Capital and Snoopadelic Films, will open in theaters on November 17, 2006.

The celebrity packed after party of the premiere was also a surprise birthday party for Snoop, which was planned and hosted by his wife, Shante Broadus. The guest list included the filmmakers and co-stars from HOOD OF HORROR, as well as Xenon Pictures executives and a packed house of family and friends from the world of music, film and sports. "Less is more" or TMI (Too Much Information) are two of the comments that you will hear from SCM experts who truly understand the components of the business supply chain from procurement, processing and through to customer delivery. In the very recent few years, with the introduction of RFID technology that allows tagging of containers, pallets and individual shipment items replete with a mass of raw data on content, models, color, specification, origination and so on , it is extremely tempting to dive in and start thinking that all this data that we are now routinely able to collect and collate can somehow be manipulated to provide SCM managers with even more information that will help them make better and more profitable decisions.

This is a short sighted approach and the reality does not match the theory that all of this information being put in front of an SCM management team is actually going to help them.

Following Pareto's Principle and focusing on the 20% of metrics that are actually telling you how 80% of SCM business performance is actually being generated does deliver better results.

The issue will become what are you going to use?

Concentrating on the basics will provide a far better SCM dashboard to equip managers to focus on the real drivers of the supply chain process. Remember we are looking to focus on cost reduction, better supplier management, shorter delivery times or better on-time delivery to customers, improving the efficiency of the manufacturing chain and being able to distil this in a format that presents information against pre-set indicators and historical trend data.

That all sounds great but let's have some specifics!

Aim to present the following and little else on your SCM dashboard:

- Production on Time and Complete
- Supplier Fulfillment on Time and Complete
- Perfect Order Fulfillment
- Perfect Order Lead Time
- Expedited Order Fulfillment
- Customer Return Rate
- Cash to Cash Cycle Time

These are seven KPI's that will provide your supply chain management team with the information that will provide them with over 80% of the indicators of SC performance. Look to provide more than this and you are heading into information replication and data overload resulting in management delays in exercising decision making power and confusion over what the metrics are actually trying to tell you.

The baccarat table has three positions that you can place your bets on, player, banker and tie. The term player does not refer to you the gambling customer and banker does not refer to the house, they are simply an option on which gamblers can place their bets.

It is an unusual game in that any score of ten is worth zero or baccarat. Nine is the highest score that you can achieve. Two face cards would have a score of zero and a nine and six would not equal 15, but 5, you drop the leading digit. A nine and ace equal zero, with the ace counting as one. Only two cards are dealt to the player (gambler), on some occasions three cards, the hand with the highest count closer to 9 or 9 wins the bet. The tie bet is won when both hands are equal. This tie bet usually pays a multiple of the bet.

There are 3 accepted variations of baccarat: BaccaratChemin de Fer (railway), Baccarat Banque (or a deux tableau) and Punto Banco (North American baccarat). Punto Banco is played in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Mini baccarat is becoming very popular because of the lower stakes. It is essentially the same game as Punto Banco, but played on a table similar to a blackjack table. Refinance Medical Equipment to Offset Reductions in Medicare Payments

Healthcare providers, particularly those with a large mix of Medicare related transactions, are in for a cash and profit squeeze. Refinancing existing medical and office equipment leases can be a way to ease the pressure. According to AMA President Jeremy Lazarus, 45% of physicians in the American Medical Association plan to decrease or stop the acceptance of new Medicare beneficiaries if Congress does not act to stop a 5% decrease in Medicare payments. These payment reductions are scheduled to go into effect in 2007. According to Lazerus "Over the next nine years, Medicare will cut physician payments 37%, unless Congress acts before January 1, 2007", adding, "at the same time, the cost of caring for those patients will increase 22%, and that math just doesn't add up". The cuts, which would reduce payments by $2.8 billion over five years, are included in a 2006 deficit reduction package.

Should the projected cuts hold up, providers will need to become more operationally and financially efficient. One way to offset the decreased cash flow is to refinance equipment. Many providers are making very large monthly payments because they have opted to execute four or even three year leases. There are now medical equipment financing options available that can spread those payments out over a 96 month period. For example, a physician needed $500,000 of equipment to start his practice and signed a 48 lease. Payments on the lease, assuming an 8% interest rate, would be approximately $12,200 per month. If that equipment were refinanced at the beginning of year two, the balance would be approximately $380,000. Refinancing that balance over 96 months would result in payments of $5,400 per month, a cash savings of $6,800 per month or $81,600 per year.

The provider should carefully review the equipment being used to determine if he is a good candidate for long term refinancing or even buying new equipment for longer amortizations. If the medical equipment is likely to withstand an onslaught of technical advances, a refinancing could be the ticket to helping offset the specter of Medicare payment deductions.
